Due to a death in the family I will be a bit M.I.A. for the next week or so.  If anyone needs to get a hold of me I will still be around, but I will probably be a bit slow to respond depending on whatever running around I may be doing.

First off, thank you all so much for the kind birthday wishes, it really made my day :D

Hokay, here is the dilemma, this is a decision I need to make ASAP for the TF:Ignition fan comic:

Normally, as I had the toy as a kid, I always portray Rumble as the red and black one and Frenzy as the blue and… uh… blue one.  But seeing as this is supposed to be a little more nostalgic in a way, the G1 cartoon always had the opposite, so I keep thinking maybe I should go that way.  So I realised, for this project anyways, I literally don't care either way but am SERIOUSLY indecisive.

THIS WHERE YOU COME IN.

Let me know which you prefer (I'm going to ask this on some of my other internet places as well) and I'll tally things up at the end of the week and whatever gets the most will be what I will go with.

Please put your preference in the comments below :D

Bear with me if this is a mess and I fail miserably trying to keep this organized.  This is really just for fun n stuff, not really worried about how accurate it is, lol.  Figured I'd have some fun with anyone who cared to :P

Thanks in advance!!

BUSY BUSY BUSY!!!

Okay, here's the plan, man.

Transformers: IGNITION plans/schedule/hopes:
- This month (March) there will be character posters and turnarounds and stuff of various Autobots being posted as the month progresses.  Think of March as "Autobot Month".
- Next month (April) is "Decepticon Month", there will be a brand new overall teaser poster thing like the Optimus Prime one, and then various Decepticon character posters and stuff throughout April.
- Month after that (May), if all goes as planned, first pages start going up as early in May as possible, aiming for first week of.

Which means I have to get my website redone/in order by then for webcomics.  THAT'S the scary part, lol.

Other non-Transformers stuff:

In between Transformers posts there will be character artwork of non-Transformers things.  Hoping to heavily have character artwork for characters from G.I. Joe, Masters of the Universe, and if I can get over my worries and get some self-confidence, Marvel and DC animation redesigns.  I've been doing those for fun in my sketchbook over the past year, but I got self-conscious and was worried no one would like them or that they'd suck or the other 100 thousand worries that block me up, lol.

And the final thing, Transformers: Ignition is not the only comic project I plan to work on this year, its a little further on but I am planning to work on something of my own creation comic-wise.  Still developing/sorting that part out, but the goal is to have it be something fun and doesn't make me overthink it to the point that I abandon it like so many times before, lol.

Anyways, hope the beginning of the new year has been a good one for you all!

I seriously have been blown away by the reception the Transformers: IGNITION announcement got.  I seriously figured I'd burned any bridges I may have had with my consistent flakiness and disorganization and that no one would be interested in it.

So now I'm like "crap, I actually have to go through with this thing now, don't I" lol :P

So, lets get movin' on this thang, shall we?  I have to at least prove I'm going through with it, so I'd better get regular updates started!  Like NOW. :P

I've just posted up the turnaround designs for Optimus Prime, both robot and vehicle, so you can get a better look at him seeing as he was only in shadowy back view in the teaser poster, as well as a close up of his head.

And as an added bonus I've also included my designs for Spike, Sparkplug and Carly.  If you are going to use humans, use the originals I always say.  Or I could use Kicker instead.  Everyone LOVES Kicker, right? :P

And if anyone for whatever reason actually has any questions or anything their curious about, feel free to ask in this here journal.  It might work its way into turning into a straight up FAQ, FAQs are always helpful.

Thank you all once again, I really hope you guys and gals will dig this project and it really has given me the drive to really push forward like a maniac on it to make sure it gets done.

Lots more teasers and stuff on the way in the coming weeks!! :D

As many of you know by now, Josh van Reyk and Shaun Knowler are bringing the Transformers: Mosaic project to an end on its 5th anniversary, which is (I believe) the 18th of this month.

I'm crappy at writing this sort of thing, but I really wanted to say something in honour of it.  I owe a lot to Mosaic, it got me out of my self-imposed online exile of the mid-2000s and I got to make friends (or at least people who are nice enough to pretend and put up with my crap, lol) with some very creative and amazing people that I'm glad I still talk with to this day.  Josh and Shaun have been great friends, and I want to thank them for letting me contribute (and for putting up with me and my chronic lateness over the years, lol), to thank them for all their hard work and dedication over the years, and to say that I'm proud to have been a part of the project.

Mosaic, to me anyways, seemed to be a turning point in Transformers fan projects in the sense that it feels like fanfiction projects have gotten "bigger" (again, at least to me anyways).  Projects now seem to always be including whole teams of people instead of just one, as many of them have met through Mosaic.  And with larger teams, you get a lot more visual and comic book projects than we used to "back in my day".  Full comic book projects were only once in a blue moon, it was mostly single writer prose stories.  Now comic books are practically a norm in Transformers fanfiction it seems.  It also seems like the quality of visual projects has increased ten-fold as well, but that's just me.  But either way, in my eyes, it seems like Mosaic ended up getting the collective EVERYONE who worked on it to set the bar way higher than it ever has been before.

I guess the last thing I can say is that I think now that Mosaic is over, that the best way to honour it's memory would be for people to continue to push their creativity and start up new, big, awesome projects of their own.  Set the bar even higher than it's already been set and have as much fun as possible doing it.

And then spam the hell out of it on all the Transformers forums.

That was a joke, don't do that, moderators will ban your ass, lol.

I'm crap at writing, sorry if this is an unfollowable mess and makes no sense, lol.  But I just felt like I wanted to say "something" and, well, there it is, in all its horrible glory, lol.

Very very VERY behind on your messages and notes, my sincerest apologies.  I have recently spent the last few weeks getting ready for the move to my new home that just occurred last week and I've been insanely busy so I'm trying to get back on on the horse, I will be caught up on messages and notes in the next week or so and I will start getting new art posted.

The inaugural version 1.0 of the AngryFangFace website is a go!

I'm not leaving deviantART or anything like that (in fact I should now be posting stuff more frequently and on a lot more sites to boot, yeesh), this site is the home base/professional/portfolio site thingy for myself and :iconpukwudgie: to use as our official site.

Lots of stuff to come, but this starts us off nicely.  And I don't want to put it off for any further length of time so thar we go!

Keep an eye on the site as there will very likely be a few things exclusive to the site, I am thinking of posting sketches and stuff that I normall don't post here on dA so maybe that will be an incentive to bookmark it.  Also, plans for webcomic type stuff in the future for the site as well, so you'll definitely want to check that out.  Y'know, whenever it happens, lol.  I'm workin' on it, I'm workin' on it :P

And of course there is some brand new arts I haven't posted here yet, so if you want a sneak peek, check out the newest blog post!

If you like getting updates for your fave sites via the various social networking type sites, we will in fact be posting up when the website is updated with new artwork and stuff on sites like that, and there are links to those places on the right of the screen.  If you have Facebook, be sure to "like" our page there, follow us on Twitter, even Tumblr and Blogspot for you blog networking types.  And RSS, whatever that is.  We're covering all the bases here!!  And if you like what you see, feel free to share it with your friends via the handy-dandy share buttons below each blog post :D  PLEASE!!  DO EEET!!

In the past few months or so, if you have sent me a note and NOT gotten a reply, please let me know.  I have had a few people come to me in the past while that had either sent me notes or replied to a note I had sent them and told me that they have not heard back from me and wanted to know if I got their messages, which it seems that I did not.  It seems that at some point there was a point in time when notes were just not coming to my inbox for some reason or another as I did not recieve them and as it was more than one person I have reason to believe there was some sort of problem at some point on my inbox end of things.

So if you sent a note to me any time in the past few months and didn't hear back, please let me know!!!

And uh, so, uh, happy new year and all that Jazz!  Here's to new and frequent artistic output from everyone this year! :D

Okay, I'm gonna keep this vague as I don't really wish to start shit or get into any drama.  Without good reason, at least lol.

BUT!

Lets say "hypothetically" that there's an artist here on dA that for a large variety of reasons has given me a rather "healthy" feeling is probably a fake but I don't want to call this person out in case it truly is the real artist (but I doubt it, for again, many MANY reasons) or start any shit here on dA, is there anything I should do?

I normally stay away from things like this but for a number of reasons I'm getting a real vibe of fakery, but without SOLID proof and it's really bugging me as there seems to have been a huge glut of fake accounts lately pretending to be actual artists this week.

The main reason I post this is because I wonder if I'm not the only one who's thought this.

Chat me up in the comments, and be sure to check back and see other peoples comments and maybe we can talk it out and I can figure out if my gut feeling is right.

This probably makes no sense, sorry, quickly typed.

Anyone Else With Weird Art Methods?

This is a confusing mess so I hope it makes some sort of sense.

Anyone out there have really weird or not of the norm methods to how you create finished pieces of art?  I'd like to think I do.

I don't so much "draw" as I "assemble".

This isn't all the time, but for complex pieces with lots going on, I do things this way.  I plan things out and do things in pieces based on the plan and assemble them all together into a coherent single piece.  After tweaking every aspect of things until it looks right.  I'm talking characters, props, you name it, all done separately at first.  Hell, sometimes I will do heads separate from the bodies just because I feel I can draw it better bigger than the body was already drawn (after meticulous planning, I assure you) and then it'll all be inked in Flash and looks like a coherent whole.  Oh yeah, sometimes I draw figures better smaller and resize them afterwards.  And THEN the heads.  Accessories and weapons?  Sometimes them too.  Depends on how its going while I'm working.  Sometimes done in one, sometimes in pieces.  Sometimes left alone, sometimes resized. Then its all assembled and inked and tweaked and coloured until it looks like a coherent whole.

Its an OCD-ish way of doing art for me.  I need to have control over all aspects of the piece so I can adjust and resize things when they don't look right and anger the OCD demons.  And Adobe Flash allows me to do it this way.

I've experimented with it a bit in the past, but I'll be pushing forward with it very shortly, but I will be using a 3D program to make mock up "templates" of props in order to make backgrounds that conform to the will of the OCD art monster.  Simple representations (not full out detailed CG models, really simple basic stuff) of things like buildings, cars, etc which I can lay out like a stage or a movie set and then move around the camera until I get the camera angle I want and that everything is in the place I need it to be (placeholder "standees" for humans as well) and then use that as blueprints to draw the damn thing.  Like composing a photo, except I have full command over nature and can move around entire buildings with my bare hands, lol.  I still have to draw it all afterwards, but it allows me to have everything exist in a 3D space and planned out so everything looks right to, again, the OCD art monster.

Over the years I NEVER got things done because something would just look wrong to me and I'd either not finish it or would abandon it even when completed because something wouldn't be the right size or I wanted to move something around but couldn't because it was already inked and I'd have to start over (which I never would) and just a mess.  As weird and unnecessarily complicated as my methods may seem, doing things this way and using Adobe Flash allows me to adjust things the way I feel I need them to be and work around the OCD art monsters demands so it all looks good and proper.  To me, anyways.

Well, that was still stupidly long, I applaud you if you actually read through all this mess without saying "what the fuck is this dude TALKING about, its all jibberish" and then moving on to something better, lol.

So, yeah, anyone else approach their art as ridiculously as I do? Am I a lone freak or are there others who do weird shit to get their art done?

Liefeld on Hawk and Dove

Just looking for opinions, feelings, etc on this.

Now, its been stated that Hawk and Dove #1 featuring Rob Liefeld on art has sold out at the distribution level.  Now, of course it was going to sell great as it is part of the #1 collection this month (pretty much all 52 #1 issues are guaranteed to succeed), but the question I have for you is this:

Do you think it will continue to succeed or will it crash and burn within a few issues?

We all know Liefeld is a polarizing character in the comics field, lots of controversy surrounds him over the course of his career, and many places I've read around on the 'net have this series in a sort of "dead pool" of the series they feel will start to crash within a few months.

Personally my issues really center around one major thing:  Liefeld is infamous for never finishing things.  DC is very strict on deadlines for the relaunch and some of the new series have different artists month-to-month because of this (I forget which series, but one of them has a different artist for each of the first 3 issues, could it be Mr Terrific? I forget).  Now it may be different as he is not working on one of his many unfinished (or not even started) creator owned projects (for example, his recent Youngblood relaunch went well and on time for like 9 issues or so with an artist and writer that was not him, but then he decided to take over and got a whole ONE issue done and that was like 2 years ago) and has editors raining down from above on him, but I wonder whether or not he'll be able to actually keep going with it.  Even if he's ahead a few issues, he's fallen behind many a time before.  But could this time be different?  And will it sell or fail?

This is just my ramblings, but what say you?
