Don't ask.  Just don't, lol.

Anyways, just uploaded some new stuff including the recreated "lost" pages of Transformers: Ignition, please read the artist comment section below on both those for some insight into why it's taken a while to get back up and running (among other reasons).

Just a very very quick journal just so I can actually have a new journal, proper journal to come very very soon :D

A HUGE thank you to everyone who got a commission during the last month's sale, I can not thank you enough :D

One more chance for anyone who missed out last time around, taking on one more batch and then I have to close up for a bit and get back to work on my on-hold projects (Transformers:IGNITION, other unannounced stuff I have planned).

PLEASE GO TO THE FOLLOWING LINK FOR ALL THE INFO YOU NEED FOR THE SALE.
Commission $20 Pin-Up Sale - OPENBrass tacks: It's not been a good time for me financially as of late.  As much as I've been afraid to give this another try, terrified in fact, but I think now's probably the time to give it the ol' college try.  Again, lol.
Apologies in advance if this is a confusing mess, I'm bad at writing these.  (I'll edit it if I need to later)
The last time I opened up for commissions years ago (and why I've been so hesitant to open up for commissions since then) I, in my opinion, failed HARD at getting them done in a reasonable timeframe.  I took on too much work and was not organized or prepared properly for it and I failed hilariously.  Yes, all work WAS completed, but it took far, far longer in some cases than what could be considered "reasonable", which wasn't good considering it was all advance payment and was intended to be completed in a timely fashion.

Here's links to all the commissions I did from the December sale, (aka: the reason why there haven't been TF:Ignition updates in a while, lol.  It's not dead!  It'll be back sooner than you think, I promise! :D ), peruse them and enjoy :D

So, basically, I'm trying this again (considering the circumstances) and attempting to have a "controlled environment" as it were.  Starting out simple for now, may change down the road, but for now it's just this.  I do not want a repeat of last time, so I'm making sure I can handle it, baby steps as it were.

Am doing quick, simple backgroundless character pin-up/standees/whateveryoucallthem for $20 each.

Examples of what I mean (some are newer works, some are a lot older):
Jazz by KrisSmithDWTF:Animated Sentinel Prime by KrisSmithDWStorm Shadow by KrisSmithDWThe Sorceress of Castle Grayskull by KrisSmithDWBaxter the Fly by KrisSmithDW
Ninjara by KrisSmithDWSuperman by KrisSmithDWMagneto by KrisSmithDWSgt. Slaughter by KrisSmithDWTrap Jaw by KrisSmithDW

Check out the folders on the left in my gallery to see some of the stuff I normally do or specialize in.  Toylines, cartoons, video games, comic books, etc
examples: Transformers, G.I. Joe, Masters of the Universe, Marvel Universe, DC Universe, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Mortal Kombat, things of that ilk (but not limited to just these, please check the gallery for more!).

BREAK IT DOWN:

Q: How much?
A: $20 (Twenty Dollars)

Q: What payment methods do you take?
A: I can only accept payment by Paypal at this moment.  Have had bad run-ins with money orders and cheques, not comfortable with them at this moment.

Q: You sure you aren't doing any other types of commissions?  Only pin-ups?
A: Yes, I don't feel comfortable at the moment taking on anything larger while doing these for multiple people at once.  This may change, but for now I'm keeping it simple.  Getting myself overwhelmed will just lead to a repeat of last time, which I refuse to let happen.  This is a very controlled experiment, lol.

Q: How do we do this?
A: Let me know what character you want in either a Note here through deviantART or an email to my email address (it's on the main page).  After we confirm everything, you send payment to my Paypal address and upon receiving it I'll start work and then email it to you in 300dpi upon completion.

Q: Advance payment? Why?
A: Burned far, far, FAAAR too many times.  Once for a very large sum of money.  Never again.  One (well, several, lol) bad apple and all that.  If this was a larger sum of money/larger, more complicate commission, I'd do a "half now, half at the end" down payment thing.

Q: Advance payment?! How do I know you'll actually get it done and wont just run off with the money and screw me over?  Or take AGES like last time?
A: My reputation is on the line.  If I screw you over, you'll tell EVERYONE what I did.  My "career" exists solely here, on the internet, so I'd lose everything (so to speak) if I did that.  And rightly so.  So, yeah, that's the basically your guarantee against that behavior, lol.

Q: Advance payment?! How do I know you'll get this done in a timely fashion and not take MONTHS like the last time?
A: Again, my reputation is on the line.  This is supposed to be my personal "second chance" sorta thing.  If screw up then I probably wont be able to do commissioned work again.  Either because I'd never want to do it again, or because no one would want to commission me ever again.

Q: Are you sure you're not undercharging yourself horribly?
A: This is, to me, by my calculations, a reasonable "sale" price for the time to takes (for me) to do these simple pin-ups, which is why these are simple just pin-ups.  If I was doing larger or more complicated commissions the price would be much higher, based on the hours of work they would require.

Q: Will you draw "OCs"?
A: Yes, provided they have a design already.  I'm not designing characters, just drawing them.  (PS: if you want an OC drawn, if you can please send me a bit of a character bio/personality info thing, last thing I want is to draw a miserable look on a character that's supposed to be happy all the time or vice versa, lol.  Many times a character's personality can shine through on nothing more than the facial expression, and I do tend to focus on that a lot in my work).

Q: Are you posting these online afterwards?
A: I prefer to do so, and in fact many (most like "most") people insist that I do so (and if I haven't they ask why) but I want to play it safe and ask you first.  Your choices:
1 - No
2 - Yes
3 - Yes, but with a big ugly watermark (note: my watermark is hilarious, at least to me anyways)
and if yes, do I have to wait until after a certain time/day to post (ie: after christmas as it is a present for someone, etc)

Q: A I allowed to post my commissioned art on my own dA page/blog/website/etc?
A: Of course!  You paid for it, feel free, just be sure to credit me and link back to me :D

Sorry if this is unnaturally complicated or confusing.  I'm terrible at this sort of thing, lol.  I've probably forgotten something...

Let's wrap Halloween up with something fitting. Anyone remember this as a kid? "The Mysterious Stranger" segment from The Adventures of Mark Twain. Traumatized many a child back in the day, in fact this scene was always edited out of the TV airings of it as was considered possibly too disturbing to some viewers, especially kids. Personally, I loved this flick, even if this scene did creep the shit out of me, I can't remember how many times I rewatched it.

I'm very very happy everyone is digging the comic so far, there is story stuff coming soon after the action stuff, I promise :D  I really, really hope not to disappoint :D

Also, to people who AREN'T Transformers fans, I promise I have non-Transformers artwork on the way, I just really really REALLY had to get this thing properly launched first :D

To all the new watchers and people who've just stumbled into the comic through wherever they've seen it, "HELLO THERE!!!" :D  I'm sometimes very very slow (and forgetful) with comments, but I do like to reply and talk to people and I eventually catch up on comments (well, mostly anyways, I'm far from perfect lol), so feel free to say "HI" :D

For all the new readers who aren't sure exactly what this comic is, Transformers: IGNITION is a fan comic series I've just started up that I've had in the works for a long while now, with story and art by me.  Like its name hints at, it is a brand new start not tied to any specific continuity.  It's basically an "if I got to be in change of a relaunch/reimagining/modernization/whatever" sort of situation.  Starts of with a healthy does of G1 type-ness and will start to draw in characters and references to all the other Transformers series over the years into a big giant love-letter to Transformers as a whole :D  I hope you will enjoy it, sometimes I can be slow (I'm not really a fast artist, especially when there are backgrounds involved, lol), but new pages will always be in the works :D

(Here's some tl;dr rambling stuff, skip if you want to, lol)
It's kinda weird actually getting this up and running, I've tried to do a Transformers fan comic for YEARS and I've never gotten it off the ground due to, well, ME.  I'm a mess, really, lol.  I have a laundry list of anxiety disorders and all kinds of fun things that come with it.  When you get into serious depression/esteem/confidence problems and you always end up in a "this is crap" funk and drop the project before you get through the planning phase or too overwhelmed with it to get anywhere or just spend a ton of time second guessing EVERYTHING, sometimes even disappearing acts, so finally getting something up and running without any of that happening really really makes my happy, well, happy :P  I didn't want to flake out on people relying on me so that's why I ended up doing a this project all by myself, that way I didn't screw anyone over, lol :P  And I could do it without fear of fighting with anyone on the direction I wanted to go in if I only had, well, ME to argue with, lol.  I figured out that the key was that I never, ever "announced" those projects to the public, almost like they weren't real if I kept them to myself and I could freely drop/cancel without guilt.  Once I announced them, there would be no going back so I couldn't simply pretend it never happened, y'know?  So, this time around I really wanted to finally get off my arse and get some projects I've wanted to get done actually DONE, I figured I HAVE TO ANNOUNCE THEM TO THE PUBLIC.  And I did so, and lo and behold, that psychological trick WORKED!  And now the comic exists :P  For those curious if I plan on doing any creator-owned projects of my own creation in the future, I plan to do one of those as well a bit later on, I just wanted to start on something I was more familiar with in order to build me up some confidence :P

Sorry for tl;dr ramble, lol

New pages tomorrow!  Also: revisions/corrections for the previous pages, as there were spelling/grammar errors and some visual errors and colours issues I fixed.

Sorry for the wait, the previous week was a bust and I really only got back to work the past few days (since thursday-ish).  Lessee, what happened the previous week… sick/infected first few days, record breaking heatwave that lasted the entire week which made it literally unbearable in my apartment, running back and forth during said heatwave and said illness to medicate my brother's cat while he was away for the week, and then the week wrapped up with the storm of the century for our city with widespread destruction and power lines demolished (some people were out of power for nearly a week).  It was CRAZY.  And the first half of last week was a lot of family stuff, nothing weird and then I started work on new pages again by Thursday.  Whew.

And of course, most importantly, I want to thank everyone for the awesome reception to the first few pages, seems like everyone really dug the start so far.  Very very happy I haven't scared people away.  Yet, anyways, lol.  More to come, and I promise it's not going to be like a 2 and a half week wait in between pages regularly like this, this was just an unfortunate happenstance :D

Anyways, tl;dr = some new pages by late tomorrow FINALLY.

Holy crap do I hate making backgrounds, lol. :P

Aiming to finally launch this sucker/get the first bunch of pages up ASAP (by Monday maybe?  Can I do it?), and then continuing onward.  Again, my sincerest apologies for almost two extra months waiting time, but it's really only been in the last 2 weeks that I've really gotten to sit back down and work on any sort of artwork stuff.

It'll be a little bit of a haphazard launch without all the bells and whistles I was intending on (mostly character bio stuff), but I'd rather actually LAUNCH the damn thing than have you (and me!) wait even longer.  Doesn't effect the comic quality, I guess it's just like skipping the trailers and getting straight to the movie, if that makes any sense lol :P

So yeah, tl;dr, I'm hoping to finally launch and start posting stuff in about a week. :P

Tell your friends! :D

PS: I've now realized I'm kinda sad that the Seekers switch to Earthen jet modes when they come to Earth.  I finally finished up the finalized design for what the Cybertronian version of their jet modes looks like for TF:Ignition and it kinda ended up looking like a Core Fighter from Mobile Suit Gundam and the YF-19 from Macross Plus had a baby.  Going to miss seeing 'em for a while after the 1st chapter. *sniff*

Thank you all for your kinds words (and your patience :D )

There's has been a LOT of moving of stuff and a LOT of... unexpected headaches.  Like a LOT.  I've pretty much been running around and moving things almost literally non-stop for the past 2 weeks and I'm not overexaggerating that.  And the rest of this week will be more of the same.

Things should start going back to some sense of normalcy after this week, as that's when everything (well, everything in a physical sense) has to been finished up by.  Probably will still be a few more headaches to come but a least the bulk of the physical stuff will be at least dealt with.

Really itching to get back to artworks and REALLY itching to get back to TF:Ignition.  Can't wait until June starts.  Never thought I'd say that as I hate summer, lol.  But there's a lot of stuff that will be OVER with after the 31st.

Very very behind on comments and notes and stuff, I've literally had no time to do anything that doesn't consist of more than clicking a "like" button, lol.  I'll get caught up soon, I promise.

First off, thank you all so much for the kind birthday wishes, it really made my day :D

Hokay, here is the dilemma, this is a decision I need to make ASAP for the TF:Ignition fan comic:

Normally, as I had the toy as a kid, I always portray Rumble as the red and black one and Frenzy as the blue and… uh… blue one.  But seeing as this is supposed to be a little more nostalgic in a way, the G1 cartoon always had the opposite, so I keep thinking maybe I should go that way.  So I realised, for this project anyways, I literally don't care either way but am SERIOUSLY indecisive.

THIS WHERE YOU COME IN.

Let me know which you prefer (I'm going to ask this on some of my other internet places as well) and I'll tally things up at the end of the week and whatever gets the most will be what I will go with.

Please put your preference in the comments below :D

Bear with me if this is a mess and I fail miserably trying to keep this organized.  This is really just for fun n stuff, not really worried about how accurate it is, lol.  Figured I'd have some fun with anyone who cared to :P

Thanks in advance!!

BUSY BUSY BUSY!!!

Okay, here's the plan, man.

Transformers: IGNITION plans/schedule/hopes:
- This month (March) there will be character posters and turnarounds and stuff of various Autobots being posted as the month progresses.  Think of March as "Autobot Month".
- Next month (April) is "Decepticon Month", there will be a brand new overall teaser poster thing like the Optimus Prime one, and then various Decepticon character posters and stuff throughout April.
- Month after that (May), if all goes as planned, first pages start going up as early in May as possible, aiming for first week of.

Which means I have to get my website redone/in order by then for webcomics.  THAT'S the scary part, lol.

Other non-Transformers stuff:

In between Transformers posts there will be character artwork of non-Transformers things.  Hoping to heavily have character artwork for characters from G.I. Joe, Masters of the Universe, and if I can get over my worries and get some self-confidence, Marvel and DC animation redesigns.  I've been doing those for fun in my sketchbook over the past year, but I got self-conscious and was worried no one would like them or that they'd suck or the other 100 thousand worries that block me up, lol.

And the final thing, Transformers: Ignition is not the only comic project I plan to work on this year, its a little further on but I am planning to work on something of my own creation comic-wise.  Still developing/sorting that part out, but the goal is to have it be something fun and doesn't make me overthink it to the point that I abandon it like so many times before, lol.

Anyways, hope the beginning of the new year has been a good one for you all!

- Kris
