Fan Comic Teaser - Transformers: Ignition

Well, here goes nothing…

After years (and I mean YEARS, like 2005 at least) of failing, FINALLY getting the Transformers fan comic series I’ve wanted to do for YEARS off the ground. Still a bit to go before the premiere (I have a few things I want/have to get done still), but there’ll be lots of stuff to show in the meantime (ie: to buy me more time, lol), I’ve got some character promo posters planned to pique interest, and definitely character/vehicle design sheets for all to see, and whatever I feel like posting to promote the hell out of it

The title says it all, “Transformers: IGNITION”. My take on the Transformers, starting from scratch (and they turn into cars and trucks and stuff so I thought it was an appropriate title) and drawing in concepts and characters from all TF toylines. Some characters will be very familiar. Some will be redesigned a bit. Some… will be very different

It’s basically “if I got to start a new TF franchise how would I do it” sorta thing. This isn’t a secret, just a heads-up. The “pilot” story is very “G1” in a sense that it’s (mostly) characters from the first year of the toys (1984) and based on the basic premise of the original toy/comic/cartoon. Autobots and Decepticons come to Earth. Take on Earth forms. Fight. Autobots defeat Decepticons. Autobots stay on Earth in case Decepticons return. After that, the series “proper” starts, and almost becomes a sequel to itself, it jumps ahead a year as the pilot story’s conclusion sets it up for the floodgates to open and I can start playing with characters and concepts from all over the past near-30 years of Transformers. Think of it as a big “remix” series. Kinda like how Marvel’s Ultimate comics were, but not quite. So don’t be surprised if some stories and concepts you remember show up, but in brand new ways… Basically using what’s already there over the past 30 years to (hopefully) create something fresh and new. Sort of a “new from old” approach.

I hope at least some of that ramble made sense, lol.

And I wont be giving spotlight to just the “stars” (like Optimus, Bumblebee, Jazz, Soundwave, etc etc), they do get their time in sun, but if you like characters like Trailbreaker, Hound, Windcharger, etc etc, you’ll really like this fan series, I can promise that, they got lots of love too. And after the first story wraps up and we jump ahead a year, you’ll get to see LOTS of characters that I hope you’ll like seeing that might not have gotten much love in the past, as well as all the fan faves you want to see. And some you may not want to see, lol

And I can not forget to thank Josh van Reyk and Shaun Knowler (creators of Transformers: Mosaic) for their help putting up with my bullshit (lol) and helping me collect my jumbled ideas and stuff in and conversations (and especially on that long lost forum a few years back), there’s a lot of that stuff you guys helped with with in here after the pilot concludes so you guys get the “SPECIAL THANKS TO” spot in the credits

I guess the whole thing is going to be just a big love letter to Transformers. That it in a nutshell. I hope you’ll enjoy it.
